Employee Voting Leave in Maryland

At every election held in Maryland, every employer must allow employees who are registered voters time off to vote if the employee does not otherwise have two hours of continuous off-duty time during the time the polls are open to vote. The law does not apply to employees voting by absentee ballot.

Paid time off rules. Time off to vote is with pay; however, employees must provide the employer with proof that they have voted. A form indicating that an individual has voted may be obtained from the election judges upon request.

Amount of time off allowed. An employee is entitle to up to two hours off to vote.
